This guide lists all available OxygenOS updates, stable as well as Open Beta, for OnePlus 6T. One part of OnePlus’ philosophy is to provide flagship hardware at a bargain price point — hence the name, Flagship Killer — whereas the second part is its important software strategy. To engage users and let them make the best out of their smartphones, the brand has developed its own near-to-stock Android skin called OxygenOS. With it, OnePlus is able to provide a wholesome user experience whilst still managing to keep it light on the CPU. Further, there is a regular update schedule as well. From here, you can download all versions of OxygenOS official firmware for your OnePlus 6T.
For faster updates, there are two release channels or versions of OxygenOS. Each being official, the differences lie within the feature set and reliability. First, OnePlus releases an Open Beta update. This build carries new features and functionality but isn’t yet tested completely. Rather, the brand lets users test it out and give feedback. After successful testing, only then do the changes get integrated into the Stable release channel. Generally, the stable builds have a considerable delay after their respective Open Beta builds are published. Further, straight out of the box, each OnePlus device is configured to get updates from the Stable channel rather than the Open Beta one. For convenience, we have added a complete list of official download links for all OxygenOS updates released for OnePlus 6T right ahead.

What is the difference Between Open Beta and OxygenOS?
OnePlus maintains two unique OxygenOS release builds for its smartphones. There is a stable channel and then there is Open Beta channel as well. The stable releases are offered directly to all phones. If, without changing factory settings, you check for software updates on your OnePlus 6T, your device will fetch the latest stable update. However, for interested users and enthusiasts, the Open Beta channel serves as a great alternative. What’s different with Open Beta is, you get bleeding edge builds with new features that haven’t yet been introduced to stable channel which, however, come at the cost of stability and reliability. As the name suggests, these builds are classed as Beta so glitches are expected. Nonetheless, through them users get to try out new features and give their feedback to OnePlus.
For OnePlus, Open Beta builds serve as a great testing platform. Not only does the brand involve end-users but it also lets OnePlus gauge how each release is performing. Once these Open Beta runs are complete, then the features get integrated to the stable channel hence making their way to more users. Further, you can easily switch between the channel you want to run just by flashing any firmware from that specific release series.
In case you came here looking for OxygenOS and Open Beta updates for the OnePlus 6T, we have them covered here!
What does the T stand for and how is it different from standard OnePlus 6?
OnePlus, beginning with the OnePlus 3, started announcing “T” phones each year. These releases came within 6 months of the standard OnePlus flagship. Normally, in the industry, brands usually introduced “S” variants of their phones but OnePlus said their devices are more than just a “S” upgrade so they went to the next letter which of-course is T and added that to the name.
Specifically, in the case of OnePlus 6T, the phone brings mostly the same design but has the fingerprint scanner underneath the display and also has a reduced tear-drop notch when compared to OnePlus 6.
OnePlus 6T Custom ROMs
Despite being quite a new device, OnePlus 6T is seeing strong support in terms of third-party ROM development. Generally, OnePlus phones have always been popular with developers due to its value focused approach and stock software.
Recently, custom ROMs have become available which have support for the in-screen fingerprint scanner. You can check out our Custom ROMs section for new listings.
