5G Chipset, Qualcomm Snapdragon 855

Further, OnePlus also announced that it is going to manufacture and sell the first smartphone to feature the all new chipset Snapdragon 855 from Qualcomm . The revelation was made on stage at the chipmaker’s annual event, held at that time in Maui, Hawaii. The company also explained that this same device will also be its first mobile phone with 5G connectivity. The most interesting of all is that this phone with Snapdragon 855 and 5G connectivity will not be OnePlus 7, but rather a model that should open a new line or maybe a special edition. This would not be the first time the brand has diverted a bit from its main family of smartphones. In 2015, OnePlus X was released , a smaller and cheaper option compared to the top of that generation.

OnePlus executives declined to comment further on the features of this device but said that it will be launched first in the UK in partnership with UK operator EE. The idea is to put the 5G mobile phone on the market even before the carriers’ mobile networks are ready, to get ahead of competitors. Samsung and Motorola are following the same plan.
