How to Enable Fingerprint Sensor on Sony Xperia XZ And X Compact in The US

The Sony Xperia XZ and X Compact come with a fingerprint sensor but unfortunately, the fingerprint sensor does not work in the United States. That seems pretty bad right? The sensor works all over the world except the United States.

But fortunately, there is a way to re-enable the fingerprint sensor on Sony Xperia XZ and Xperia X Compact United States version. The not working of fingerprint sensor is just a software issue and with a simple firmware flash, the fingerprint scanner can be brought to life again. All you have to do is to flash a different region firmware in your phone and the fingerprint of Sony Xperia XZ and Xperia X Compact will start working like normal.

For example, here is a screenshot (courtesy: Xperia Blog) of the original Sony Xperia XZ US firmware

Once you flash the UK firmware into your device, the customization number changes.

Once you successfully flash the firmware, the fingerprint sensor on Sony Xperia devices will start working just like normal.

That is how you can re-enable the fingerprint sensor on your Sony Xperia XZ or Sony Xperia X Compact easily. If you face any issue, ask us in the comments.
