You can now download the official GApps Android 10 package for AOSP based custom ROMs. Open Gapps, a popular entity that provides Google apps that can be installed on custom ROMs has just released much awaited Android 10 Google apps package. Available just like older flash-able ZIPs, new Android 10 Gapps can be easily installed on top of custom ROMs via a custom recovery like TWRP. This time round, Open Gapps has been a little late in releasing new Google apps partly because Android’s source code was heavily reworked for version 10. Nonetheless, the apps are available now and you can download them for your Android phone.
To make custom ROMs lighter and for better security, AOSP based ROMs don’t come with Google apps. This means, once you flash the custom ROM and boot it right after, you wont have Google Play Store and other essential Google apps. To get these necessary services and stock Google apps, you need to separately flash the Gapps Android 10 package. This ZIP package consists of a number of Google apps like the Play Store, Google Play Services, Google Search, Chrome etc. We highly doubt you’d want to use your Android 10 custom ROM without this Gapps package.
Android 10 Google Apps (Open Gapps):
Similar to how older releases were offered in various sizes, new Android 10 Gapps are available in Nano as well as Pico. Other variations will be added later on, hopefully. If you want the bare minimum Google Play Store installation capability, you can go with Pico and save up on data, otherwise Nano is a better albeit larger option that comes with added Google Play Services and Google app functionality that isn’t available through Play Store.
If you want more details on the differences between ‘pico’ and ‘nano’ type packages, visit our main Download Gapps section.
Known Issues:
For now, developers have stated that there are few issues in the apps. If you do not use the following apps, you should be good to go.
- Photos app force closes
- Using Pixel Launcher with Q gesture system will result in Force Close
You are safe if you do not use these two apps. There are plenty of alternatives you can try out.

NOTE: Read our Gapps guide for detailed information on the differences between each package as well as get older Gapps version: Download Google Apps for Android (All Versions).

How to Install Android 10 GApps ZIP on Custom ROMs
This tutorial will help you install Android 10 Gapps on your device. You can flash this Gapps package on your device if just installed an AOSP based custom ROM or you have a phone without Google services on it. You need to keep these Android 10 Gapps in handy when playing with AOSP ROMs because they do not have Google Play services built into them. It’s not like you cannot use the ROM without this package, it’s just that you will not able to download apps from the Google Play Store. You will need alternative app stores then.
Unlike custom ROMs that are device-specific, Gapps are more general / universal. You only have to make sure of what architecture your device utilizes (64-bit for most modern phones / 32-bit for older, budget devices). After you have that figured out, you can simply download and flash the complete correct package right after installing your ROM.
There is a new version of Google Apps released for every new version of Android. Similarly, Android 10 brought a new set of Gapps for newer phones that will be using this new version of Android OS.
Tutorial:
Here are the complete instructions on how you can install Android 10 Gapps on your phone with AOSP based custom ROM. It is essential that you have Android 10 running as these Google Apps are targeted towards that specific version. If you do not have a custom recovery installed, please check our TWRP section for tutorials.
Once you complete the installation of your custom ROM, follow the steps below. Please read every line carefully and make sure you read the tutorial once before actually performing it on your Android device.
To Remember:
- You should have Android 10 custom ROM flashed already, based on AOSP code.
- You need to have a custom recovery installed, like TWRP.
- You can skip installation of Gapps and use your custom ROM but there wont be any Google apps or Google account support, especially the Google Play Store.
Complete Step-By-Step Instructions:

- ARM64 Devices: gapps-arm64-10.0-nano.zip

Step 2 – Place the downloaded zip file to the root of your device. (At the very top folder (root) of your SD card or internal storage)

Step 4 – In custom recovery, scroll down to “flash zip from SD card” and press the POWER button to select it.
Step 5 – Press the POWER button again and select “choose zip from sdcard”.
