There is no definite answer to this. However, it has been found out that these problems occur after long flights or after strong temperature fluctuations. So users who went through winters and colder temperatures last year in the Northern hemisphere faced this problem a lot more than others.

It is safe to say, Samsung’s Galaxy S22 series does not handle pressure changes well. This can be particularly annoying after you have already dished out hundreds of dollars for a premium flagship phone experience.

How to Fix Galaxy S22 Speaker Crackling Bug

Samsung has yet to officially acknowledge this issue or offer any support regarding it. Thanks to the community, there has been a very easy fix to this problem.

According to Reddit user, removing the SIM card tray is enough to fix the speaker problem. This means, you will not be able to use the Samsung Galaxy S22 for music or watching videos when near water as the SIM tray is now open and does not protect the phone against water splashes.

For most users, this seems to be the issue and the crackling / shrieking sounds go away even after putting back the SIM tray. If this doesn’t solve the issue for you, you might have to open an RMA case with Samsung if your device is still under warranty.

How to Fix Samsung S23 Speaker Crackling Issue

Samsung Galaxy S23 / S23 Ultra are the latest flagship Android phones from the company this year and as per some users, the Galaxy S23 speaker crackling issue still persists in the newer model. We don’t really have a ton of reports like the older model, but the problem seems to be there for a handful of users.

To fix it, the only solutions we could think of are the ones mentioned above for the Samsung Galaxy S22 models. It’s a long shot, but you can also try the following fixes:

1. Test in Safe Mode

To determine if a third-party app is causing the crackling issue, you can boot your Galaxy S23 into Safe Mode. In this mode, only pre-installed apps are active. If the crackling disappears in Safe Mode, it’s likely that a third-party app is the culprit. To enter Safe Mode:

  1. Power off your device.
  2. Turn it on, and when you see the Samsung logo, press and hold the volume down button until the device finishes booting.
  3. Observe if the speaker crackling issue persists in Safe Mode.

If the issue is resolved in Safe Mode, you can identify the problematic app by uninstalling recently installed apps one by one until the crackling disappears.

2. Hardware Inspection

If the issue persists even after a factory reset or testing in Safe Mode, it’s possible that the speaker hardware is damaged or malfunctioning. Did you drop your phone recently on the floor or any other hard surface? Inspect your device for any visible body damage around the speaker area.

In this case, it’s recommended to contact Samsung’s customer support or visit an authorized service center to have your device inspected and repaired by professionals.

If the speaker crackling issue persists even after trying all the above fixes, you may want to contact Samsung support. They may be able to provide additional troubleshooting steps or repair options if needed.

In conclusion, the Samsung S22 speaker crackling when cold temperatures around can be annoying, but there are several ways to fix it. Try the above fixes one by one until you find a solution that works for you. Not that we know of yet.
