Over the past years we have started to rely more on our phones. Adding to it, we have also increased the number of electronic devices that need to be carried on a day-to-day basis. All of this has made it quite essential to own a good battery pack in order to keep everything up and running. And just like the smartphone market, a lot of accessory brands have risen to provide a viable power bank solution that offers convenience and reliability. One such example is the RAVPower USB-C 20,100 mAh PD (Power Delivery) power bank. Luckily, we have been testing the unit for the last couple of weeks and here is what we think about it.
Before diving in, as with all of our reviews, it is essential to get a brief context of what the product in question is all about, what are its goals and the brand philosophy it carries. RAVPower has been in business since 2011. The sole purpose behind it, as the name suggests, is to provide quality power-based charging products for consumers. Be it batteries or high-quality power-cables, RAVPower offers a wide range of accessories. Taking a detailed look at 20,100mAh 45W PD powerbank, here is our review.
For those interested, we have also reviewed the Tronsmart Brio battery pack that also comes with USB Type-C and Power Delivery support:
Whats in the Box?
Representing the brand’s unique green color hue, RAVPower USB Type C 20,100 mAh power bank comes packed in a vivid green box. Within it, there are further smaller boxes which house the contents. For the larger box, it carries the main power bank itself whilst the other smaller one contains the carrying case and a PD-compliant USB Type-C cable. Beneath both of these boxes is the warranty info, product info and quick guide.
Straight off, we appreciate that RAVPower included a nice, soft cloth-material carrying pouch as it makes it easier to protect the larger power bank and also, carry it around. The pouch has a dedicated pocket outside which can be used to store any required cables.

Design
Industrial is the keyword with RAVPower’s USB-C PD power-bank design. The whole product comes in a rectangular, brick-style exterior. Despite being plastic, there is a matte texture that gives it a rugged look and makes it easy to hold as well as place, without fearing slippage.
Just like standard powerbanks, all the ports are placed on a single side. For ports, there is a microUSB input port for charging, one full sized USB port and a single USB Type-C port as well that supports power input as well as output. Further, above the ports are four LEDs which display the battery-level of the powerbank.
Not to forget, there is dedicated power button as well which is placed on the longer edge. While the powerbank automatically starts charging when it is connected to a device, this button is there in case it doesn’t.
For branding, RAVPower’s 20100mAh comes with an engraved brand logo up top, a nice engraving of the power capacity on the shorter edge as well. Further, there power input/output details on the back.
Power
The overall output versatility of a certain powerbank is what makes it stand out from the rest. While RAVPower has focused on large capacity, the brand has also outfitted USB-C PD 20100 mAh powerbank with some amazing output figures. The main highlight is the USB-C PD port which is capable of delivering up-to 45W, making it perfect to charge smartphones quickly and even charge laptops! Not only that, this Type-C port also comes in handy to charge up the powerbank itself with upto 30W of supported input.
Input
- 5V / 2A or 9V / 2A, 18W Maximum (microUSB)
- 5V / 3A or 9V / 3A or 12V / 2.5A or 15V / 2A or 20V/1.5A, 30W Maximum (USB Type-C)
In our tests, these power figures, as reported by RAVPower, were quite accurate. For reference, we were able to charge up Galaxy Note 9 a whopping 5 times! This test was conducted when our powerbank was new and the smartphone had about 5-10% battery left. For laptops, you would be able to get varying amounts of charge. Using a laptop whilst charging would also effect the recharge percentage. Unlike other low-powered powerbanks, however, you would not notice decreasing battery percentage on your laptop whilst its plugged in to the powerbank.
Output
- 5V / 3A or 9V / 3A or 12V / 3A or 15V / 3A or 20V/2.25A, 45W Maximum (USB Type-C)
- 5V / 2.4A, 12W Maximum, Supports Ismart 2.0 (USB Type-A)
For USB Type-A, the port is considerably slower than Type-C. However, it is there when you have a device that doesn’t come with PD or you just simply want to charge two devices at once. Supporting Ismart 2.0, the powerbank automatically sets the fastest charging speed and delivers that to the phone. The total cap is at 12W for this port, which is quite less unfortunately. We noticed about twice as long charging duration. This port, hence, is perfect for charging accessories and other small devices.
Conclusion
In our tests, RAVPower USB-C PD 20,100mAh 45W powerbank has been exceptional. It delivers great output, has a decent input for charging and can also be used to charge two devices at once. The design is great, it comes with a traveling pouch for easier portability and there is a quality USB Type-C cable included within the package.
If we were to talk about downsides, my only grievance would be the low-power USB type-A port, I think it could have been extended to provide better rate. Anyhow, even then, this powerbank has been reliable and is an easy recommend from us!
That’s 20.1 Ah, or you failed physics at school.
