Huawei just announced their latest Nova 3 smartphone and through this post, we will take you through the complete unboxing experience of the smartphone and also share our first impressions about it. Nova lineup has been around for couple of years but this time around, it has received its most significant update yet. What immediately captures attention of prospective buyers is the high speed Kirin 970 processor and 6GB RAM — features only available on Huawei P20 Pro — at a price point that is quite less than the Pro. We will be judging this phone over the course of next few weeks before we give our complete review so before that, let’s take a look at the initial unboxing experience right ahead!
Carrying over from P20 series, the design is quite, if not exactly, the same as P20 Lite. Huawei is looking to standardize the exterior of all its smartphones and is sticking to maintaining differences only in internals. Unlike the P20 Lite, Nova 3 comes with Huawei’s top-notch Kirin 970 processor. Further, it also features 6GB of RAM and 128GB storage — previously only seen in $1000 smartphones. To combine it all together, Nova 3 comes in a stunning Iris Purple paint-job that we were lucky enough to get! Continue reading for a complete unboxing video, detailed pictures, first-impressions and tech-specs of Huawei Nova 3.
Design aesthetics isn’t the only thing that Huawei is looking to standardize on its mid to high range smartphones. New Nova 3 carries the same box as the higher-end P20 series, which is quite good to see.
Jumping straight to the box, once top lid is removed, we are immediately greeted by the Nova 3. Few things that are immediately noticeable from the front display are, Notch cut-out on the top and extremely thin bezels. Taking Nova 3 out of the box and flipping it to see the rear paint-job, it is quite a sight to behold! Iris Purple color choice is the one to get with this phone, it is truly spectacular.
Now, inspecting the box further, there is a cardboard envelope which houses a screen protector, clear silicon case, quick start guide and SIM ejection tool. This recent trend of including screen-protectors and a clear case within the box is something we highly appreciate. Further ahead, there is a Quick Charge charging adapter included as well as a standard USB Type-C cable. Fortunately, as Nova 3 doesn’t cut on 3.5mm headphone jack, it also ships with standard earphones.
That was all for the unboxing experience! Now discussing a bit about the Nova 3 itself, apart from the stunning paint option, this smartphone does offer something we haven’t previously seen from Huawei. You get P20 Pro level performance without the extra features such as triple-lens camera, OLED display and few more but that is rightly reflected in the price. Overall, Nova 3 seems to be quite promising, we will have our full thoughts after detailed usage for which you should stay tuned!
