As Verizon and AT&T, in the states, have been working hard to spread 5G network technology, UK is on the brink of getting its share of the new network standard as well. 5G will arrive in UK through Vodafone on July 3rd in Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Glasgow, Manchester, Liverpool, and London only. Later, spreading the 5G network to Birkenhead, Blackpool, Bournemouth, Guildford, Newbury, Portsmouth, Plymouth, Reading, Southampton, Stoke-on-Trent, Warrington, and Wolverhampton.
Vodafone is not staying local, it is going to provide 5G roaming services within Germany, Italy, and Spain for UK customers. There will no extra charges for using 5G specifically as said by Vodafone. And coming to EE UK, they haven’t given any exact date for their 5G release. Recently at OnePlus event, EE UK was present and revealed that they will be bringing OnePlus 7 Pro 5G when 5G arrives. A different set of cities was introduced by EE UK where 5G will be available.
5G Network for UK: Arriving in July
As mentioned above EE UK hasn’t announced a specific date for its 5G arrival like Vodafone but EE has confirmed the cities 5G will be arriving in which are London, Edinburgh, Cardiff, and Belfast. Within the end of this year, EE UK will be spreading it’s 5G in Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow, Newcastle, Liverpool, Leeds, Hull, Sheffield, Nottingham, Leicester, Coventry, and Bristol.
Along with the 5G Network are arriving 5G handsets, at least 5 5G handsets of them. Following is the list of 5G Phone arriving with the 5G network.
- Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 5G (Releasing on May 23, 2019)
- Samsung Galaxy S10 5G (Pre-orders opening soon)
- Huawei Mate 20 X (Pre-orders opening soon)
- Huawei Mate X 5G (Launching in Summer)
- OnePlus 7 Pro 5G (Coming Soon)
These handsets will be available through EE UK and those aren’t in the list might be available through Vodafone, as we don’t have a confirmed list of phones Vodafone is going to offer. Offering a high-speed connection like 5G in the UK makes it a competitor of the US whereas the US has extended its 5G to a large portion with offering different plans along with 5G handsets.
