How to Unlock Bootloader on Xiaomi Android Phones

How to Unlock Bootloader with Mi Unlock Tool:
The following steps will help you unlock your Xiaomi’s phone bootloader. Since this tutorial uses Windows, you would need to first configure proper Xiaomi USB drivers before implementing the process.
Step 1 – Visit the official Mi Unlock tool website in order to have unlock permissions for your account. Make sure you have an account that has mobile number verification.
Step 2 – Once you have logged in, click on Unlock Now button on the webpage and then proceed to tap on Download Mi Unlock from the resulting page.
Step 3 – On your Xiaomi phone, enable developer options by going to Settings > About Phone and then tap on MIUI version continously until You’re now a developer popup appears.
Step 4 – From the main Settings menu, now tap on Additional Settings > Developer Options. Browse down till you see Mi Unlock Status and then sign-in with the same account you used to download Unlock tool in Step 2.
Step 5 – Within Developer Options, also enable OEM Unlocking and USB Debugging.
Step 6 – Now, proceed to put your Xiaomi phone into Fastboot mode by first powering it off and then, powering it on while holding Volume Down and Power buttons simultaneously. Hold until you see your phone is booted into Fastboot mode.
Step 7 – Connect your phone with your computer.
Step 8 – Unzip the Mi Unlock tool you previously downloaded and open up miflash_unlock.exe or a similarly named executable file. (Due to version upgrades the name might differ slightly.
Step 9 – Now sign-in with your Mi account, which should be now configured on your smartphone, and wait for verification process.
Step 10 – Make sure you have drivers installed by clicking on Gear icon on the top right which will let you view the status of installed utilities. If drivers are not installed, do them now by clicking on Install.
Step 11 – Now click on Unlock. The program should now begin unlocking and should also share live status percentage. Once done, it will display Unlocked Successfully.
By now, you should have unlocked your phone’s bootloader which means you can now install firmware files, custom ROMs, mods, recoveries and root!
