Download Xiaomi Mi 5 Android 8.0 Oreo MIUI Global Beta ROM

You can now download Android 8.0 Oreo MIUI Global Beta ROM for the Xiaomi Mi 5. Just recently it was announced that Xiaomi is now officially testing out the MIUI Android Oreo builds with a closed group of beta testers. And looks like they have just launched the Oreo MIUI Global Beta ROM, so anyone with the Xiaomi Mi 5 can download and try out this ROM. Mi 5 was the company’s flagship Android phone in 2016, and we are happy that they are keeping their phones up-to-date with new features and regular updates.

This specific release of MIUI Global Beta ROM on Xiaomi Mi 5 brings Android 8.0 Oreo among other small fixes. Oreo brings a number of new features and cosmetic changes to the Android system. However, you will not notice most of those changes because of the MIUI skin on top it. This ROM also comes with the latest February 2018 security update by Google. Xiaomi Mi 5 is powered by a Snapdragon 820 processor, comes with a 16 megapixels camera, 3/4GB RAM and plenty of battery to last the phone a day. Just to add, the official Android Oreo MIUI Global Stable ROM was released last week for the Xiaomi Mi 6, the current flagship phone of the company.

This may be a leaked beta ROM, this is why you will need a Xiaomi Mi 5 with an unlocked bootloader, TWRP recovery and then flash it like a custom ROM on your phone. You will not be able to install this MIUI ROM the normal way — by Fastboot or Recovery.

As per the schedule by MIUI, we are still a couple of months away from the official Android Oreo roll out for Mi 5. However, beta builds should start rolling out soon. It is highly recommended that you backup your phone and data and then proceed to installing this ROM. You will most likely have to wipe all your data.
