Find out all the details available right now for Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL through this post. Google will be holding its hardware announcement event tomorrow, October 4th and during that event, the brand will be hoping to launch its Pixel successor. The Pixel name has come out to replace the old Nexus name. The original Google Pixel came at a hefty price but with hardware to justify. The Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL will be following a similar pattern. Unlike other flagships, Google phones are coming out later in the year which gives an expectation of newer processors but due to some delay, Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL will supposedly ship with Snapdragon 835, same as flagships released earlier. Read ahead to get more details on what to expect from the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL.
Keep in mind, the official event is to take place on October 4th. This post will rely on information that has been rumored and leaked. However, as it is 2017, this information has a very high chance of being cemented in the event being held tomorrow. The Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL will be the first smartphones from Google to ship with Android 8.0 Oreo pre-installed. You can get further details for the upcoming smartphones right below.
Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL – Details
We will be talking about two major things, the hardware and design. We will not be looking at the software characteristics as they already have been disclosed with Android 8.0 Oreo.
The Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL were initially thought to be carrying the Snapdragon 836 chip but now it has been rumored that delays have occured hence forcing the Pixel lineup to stick with Snapdragon 835 which is found on the Galaxy S8, S8 Plus, Note 8 and similar counterparts from other manufacturers. For some it might be a let down but the Snapdragon 835 is still a powerhouse and would be adequate enough. Moving from the processor, the RAM is said to be at 4GB for both phones. Storage capacities should be starting from 64GB as the minimum.
A key difference which has been noted through the leaked renders is the screen ratio difference between Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. The Pixel 2 will be sporting a normal 16:9 display whilst the Pixel 2 XL will get a longer 18:9 front panel. This will make the Pixel 2 XL much easier to handle and maneuver.
The rear camera system will not be dual rather it would feature a traditional 12MP single sensor. Further, on the front, there would be stereo speakers for both phones. Lastly, it seems to be that the Pixel 2 wont be entering the bezel-less race as both phones have considerable bezels.
Whilst the original Google Pixel got a mixed response from users, Google aims to win more customers with the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL design. The phones will be featuring the same two different materials on the back but with a different approach. The glass part has been shortened while more emphasis has been given to the solid metal section. On the front, with these renders, bezels remain to be quite prominent which might raise a concern. However, again, these are just renders that have leaked, the final form might slightly be different.
