Root Galaxy S8 Plus on Android 7.0 Nougat – CF-Auto-Root Details:

For those who are not sure about CF-Root, please read the following two paragraphs for a quick intro to the root package:

CF-Root is the root for “rooting beginners” and those who want to keep as close to stock as possible. CF-Root is meant to be used in combination with stock Samsung firmware, and be the quickest and easiest way for your first root. A modified recovery and cache partition will be flashed, which will install (only) SuperSU, then clean-up the cache partition and re-flash the stock recovery.

CF-Auto-Root method works well with the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus and is probably the most safest root method available. It fully supports Android 7.0 Nougat firmware and future firmware updates as well since it is not dependent on a single build.

  • This root method tutorial is only for Galaxy S8 Plus. Please make sure you only download the root package for your own model number.
  • Make sure you backup all your data in your phone before proceeding as a precaution.
  • This root method works with Android 7.0 firmware and all future Android updates as well.
  • Your Galaxy S8 Plus should be on an official firmware by Samsung, not a custom ROM.

Complete Step-By-Step Instructions:

Step 1 – Download CF-Auto-Root Package for Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus to your computer and extract the zip file. Download the appropriate file from the links below, depending on your phone model number:

NOTE: Using this root increases your flash counter. You should run Triangle Away after rooting to reset the counter. Note that if you want to run custom kernels or custom recoveries, your flash counter will be set to 1 at every boot. Either configure Triangle Away to reset the counter at every boot or only reset the counter when you need to go into warranty.

Step 2 – Download Odin which will help you to root Android 7.0 on Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus.

Step 3 – Switch OFF your phone. Now go to Download Mode. How? Press and hold the Volume Down + Bixby buttons together, and then press the Power button till you see a warning screen. Step 4 – Make sure you have your Galaxy S8 Plus USB drivers installed on your computer.

Step 5 – Open Odin on your computer. Connect your phone to your computer while your phone is in the Download Mode.

  1. I see Galaxy S8 Plus SM-G955U list. Can anyone tell me if this works with all variants of the SM-G955U? Example: SM-G99UZASPR or SM-G955UZKASPR?
