Hype Machine is not like other music services. It is a service which keeps track of over 700 music blogs and what they post on their blogs. Then it presents the music according to what the blogs discuss for easy analysis. Users can then listen to the picked music and they can also favourite them to listen to it later. You can also get regular updates by subscribing to the blogs.
Tracks are not actually hosted on the Hype Machine. Users can listen to the songs only if the blogs have posted a link to some music service like SoundCloud. The music is categorized into several categories to make the music discovery easier. Some of the categories are ‘latest’, ‘popular’, ‘favorite’, ‘feed’, ‘friends’, ‘genre’ and some more.
The Android app cost $3.99 until now but today it went free of cost. The app was on sale for $0.99 a few weeks ago and it went back to its normal price. But it is now totally free and will remain free forever.
